Reagents & Consumables

Laboratory reagents can be a useful tool for a variety of uses. These reagents can be used for a wide range of scientific tasks, from mixing chemical elements to sample processing techniques. Due to their complex nature, handling laboratory reagents can be challenging.

For this reason, several types of specific user manuals have been created to assist users in using these reagents. In this article, the various types of user manuals and their role in the handling of laboratory reagents will be described. In general, user manuals are defined as written documents that provide detailed information on the proper use of a product.

Types of Reagents & Consumables your Laboratory may need

Consumables

Type of accessories and consumables:

Disposable microtome blade (low profile). Kalstein YRA18 low profile disposable blades are made of highly durable stainless steel. An ingenious PTFE coating process on the blade allows for section stretching and quality sectioning tapes in routine histology. Thin but durable, the 80 mm long x 8 mm high x 0.25 mm thick blades are specifically designed for use with Kalstein microtomes or cryostats classified and labeled as in vitro diagnostic medical devices for histological medical diagnosis, e.g. cancer diagnosis.

Reagent

Reagents are also needed for blood cell counting and differentiation, for which different types of automation are used. These include differentiated cell counting, cell counting via imaging, cell counting by particle counting and other automated systems. These systems offer even better accuracy than manual counting, as well as allowing optimal storage of results for later reference.

For proper detection of erythrocyte counts, the most commonly used reagents are special staining reagents. Most of these stains are designed for the identification of certain qualities of erythrocytes, such as their diameter, shape, or number of red blood cells. These techniques are frequently used in the detection and counting of abnormal red cells, such as immature red cells, abnormal red cells, and malformed red cells.
